Dates! They’re a whole food and loaded with beneficial phytonutrients. Although dates have a high sugar content, studies show they don’t raise blood sugar levels (partly because of all the fiber slowing down the sugar absorption rate). In fact, dates are so healthful, they’re considered an ideal food. So when you”re whipping up a delish smoothie or dessert, try sweetening it with whole dates or just eat some dates themselves (medjools are my favorite).
