Yesterday afternoon I went for my usual run, meandering through the shipyards and train tracks that border the Puget Sound in the Ballard district of Seattle where I live. The weather here has been perfect lately, and yesterday was no exception. After a few miles I stopped upon reaching Golden Gardens, a lovely stretch of beach bordering the Sound with an incredible view of the Olympic mountain range. My intention was to stretch, maybe take a photo or two of the sailboats playfully bouncing around in the sunshine (see my previous photo) and then run back home. But I felt God telling me to be still. I perched on some rocks and watched the sparkling waves lap up against them... for hours. I was completely alone. No social media, no mindless chit chat with a friend, just me and my Creator spending time together. He whispered to me that this beauty I was gazing upon was mine - a unique moment prepared specifically for me. I sat there until after the sun went down, lost in thought and delighting in His beauty. How often I forget to do this, and how very needed it is. I strongly encourage you to take some time to rest this week and steal away a few hours of God's time without distraction. I promise He has something amazing in store for you.
