I so love Pooh and Piglet quotes!! Our pastor just used one in church last Sunday, and I've been thinking of putting it somewhere in our house: "What day is it?" asked Pooh. "It's today," squeaked Piglet. "Oh, good...my favorite day," said Pooh. (Or something like that :) And I just adore you and the fact that you still have these quotes up even with big boys in the house :) Never to old for Pooh wisdom!

For @auburnsoul here is the telling time lesson approach I have found to be successful. I don't know if I can possibly explain it on this format. But I'll make an attempt, and if you are interested, ask me to clarify :) First, using 4x6 index cards make the clock numerals and minute hashes as shown, then connect with paper fasteners. Make color coordinated hour & minute hands. For many lessons/ days/weeks keep the cards linear and place the hands (arrows) randomly, emphasizing how even when the hour hand passes by the numeral, it still is "named" that nearest to the left number. It can't be called the next number until it comes to it. Make a game reinforcing that concept. Discuss the minute marks, counting them & noting that a small " helper" numeral is written in red to keep track. ONLY after the children have complete mastery of denoting the time (switching roles with you; you say a time, they place the arrows, then you place the arrows and they read the time) again, for several lessons over an adequate time period - then form a circle with the cards. First only use the hour hand to assess their understanding that even though the hour hand passes the numeral, it is still called that number until it reaches the next. Then add the minute hand. This probably sounds like such gibberish...sorry :-/
