Not my usual type of post, but it's been such an incredible week in the UK. Olympic fever has well and truly struck the British public and the Olympic Games have just been brilliantly received and our athletes have been outstanding. I was lucky enough to go to a couple of events and the memories will stay with me for some time to come. Just so proud to be British right now

Another sunny day at Sossusvlei. You don't believe the hype about the dunes until you see them. They rise out of the earth as red as they appear in this shot. An extraordinary place. Namibia

@clauaabarca it depends on the country and how adventurous you are! Namibia is very safe with great roads so it's easy to get about. The people are very friendly and you don't get hassled or stopped either, which you can be in other African countries. We drove round the country for 3 weeks in a 4x4 just the 2 of us, which was just incredible. We arranged the vehicle hire and places to stay each night (lodges, home stays and camping) through a UK travel company, but other than that we did as we wished. I think Namibia is a great place to start if you want to travel on your own, but there are many escorted trips or group tours that you can do too. The travel company Expert Africa - expertafrica.com - is a good place to start online as it'll give you an idea what you can do where. Hope that helps! πππ

@msterlife_ud thank you! I should have added in my description that the impala had been standing behind the four lions in some of my previous shots and was watching them walk away. The way the hunters and the hunted in Africa live in such close proximity amazes me.

Whilst nearly everyone else in Britain was watching the Opening Ceremony, we had a sublime dinner at The Waterside Inn in Bray. This is the view of The Thames from our room; I don't think we missed much.
