there is such freedom in finding joy and contentment in even the worse of experiences and situations. recently I heard a quote "find the crack" it was written by a girl I went to college with and recently read at her funeral. In it she explained that even in a dark room there's a crack that will let the light in and metaphorically in life even in the darkest of situations we should be searching for that crack to let the light in. I have been thinking for a little while now that I need to go on a journey- a life journey - to find joy in every day, in every circumstance even the ones that seem dark and hopeless. In my God there is hope, there is joy, immeasurable joy, and contentment in every season. I am going to find that crack, I am going to search out the joy and I am going to have it, and be free! Guys I have so many photos I could post right now it's ridiculous. I really don't know what to do with them all. I always thought my life was pretty lame (I'm being completely honest right now) and I still do, but I have been super blessed these last few months to spend a significant time back in Oregon-the state I still consider home-Colorado, California, Washington, and now Maine and as of tomorrow, Canada. Maybe that's how my life goes, long dreadful seasons of lame and then short periods of The Lord blessing my socks off to the point I don't know what to do with myself. I need to learn to always worship the Lord and find the blessings in the "lame" monotonous parts of my life as well as the "wow" seasons. "Thank you lord for this, one of the most amazing sunsets and time spent in rest, and thank you lord for the 70+ hour work weeks where I feel I have no life. You are good always. I love you." In honor of all the bridges we will cross today and tomorrow, here is a photo of "bridge of the gods" linking oregon to washington. Today we will cross Tappen Zee Bridge (a Dutch term meaning broadening of the river) which is rated one of the worst bridges in the country as far as how structurally sound it is (think chunks of concrete falling into the river and worms eating the pilings). I'm not a huge huge bridge fan, especially not ones where you can see the water when you look down such as the one pictured. (cattle guards come to mind and I have not had a good experience with those).

"I wish we knew when the good times were before we left them" #theofficefinale ||| I don't know why but this photograph makes me feel nostalgic- thinking about the past -and yet also hopeful for the future and remembering to treasure the present. A friend asked on his Facebook update "what is your favorite attribute of God" and another person replied "I imagine Him having a big ol loving belly laugh when he seems the clay trying to decide what about the potter is his favorite" ||| puts a lot back into perspective for me today, He is the ultimate creator, I am his creation.

haze ||| headed to maine, new brunswick, prince edward island, and nova scotia in two days to explore the eastern coasts and it will be my first time out of the country! I feel like every day goes by faster than the last and I wish that time would slow down, and my life would slow down with it. I stepped outside today at work and could hear the roar of the ocean at high tide and it hit my heart like a ton of bricks, I am so very fortunate to have grown up next to the ocean. I can see it everyday if I want and some people travel for miles just to see it for a day. i am also fortunate to have one of my jobs located just a block away. The fog rolled in tonight as I closed up shop, I could see the heat lightening over the bay and the smell of salt air was so thick ... and I realized yet again my deep love for the ocean. I hate being landlocked, it's one thing I couldn't stand about living in Kentucky. Easy coast or West, I need the ocean :) yes, NEED.

Today realizing again how short life is and how we should treasure every moment we're given and not waste any minute of our lives on things that don't really matter. live life to the fullest, love God, love others, you aren't guaranteed tomorrow. Thankful that a friend in our community miraculously survived a terrible crash after four days in the ICU- his heart wasn't right with God before the crash yet is now. But my heart is broken for the Hunter and Stevenson families in Kentucky after their loss yesterday. Tell the people you love, that you love them. ❤

there are so many things I want to do with my life/could do with my life and would be happy forever...an artist, a mechanic, a professional kayaker, a landscaper, musician, duck hunter, organic farmer, fisherman, vineyard keeper, pilot, run an orphanage and be the mother to all the unwanted babies in the world, news photographer, surgeon...the list goes on...add to that carpenter who works with DRIFTWOOD. How cool would that be!! I wanted to take every piece home with me!

So I love California, well at least what I've seen of it -which is north of Sacramento. One thing I love about the Redwoods area is that everything grows big, even the clover. Compared to the clover we have here in jersey, dang son this is like the Goliath of all clover. And then you reach down and pick a piece and surprise, the underside is purple!!! Come on could it get any better.

Beautiful place to pull over and photograph a meadow along the route to multnomah falls, the light playing off the grass and mist over the mountains was beyond gorgeous.
