Two years and now three Mother's Days have gone by without my beautiful mama.
I miss her hugs, her laugh and most importantly her love more and more with each passing day. She was the glue that held my family together. It was my mama that fed me first during hard times before she fed herself. Everyday when I look in the mirror I am beyond blessed to see her, in me.
So tomorrow on Mother's Day hug your mama tight and tell her how much you love her for the next day is not promised to us.
After she passed away I read the amazing book The Long Goodbye by Meghan O'Rourke and still to this day this quote sticks with me... “Nothing prepared me for the loss of my mother. Even knowing that she would die did not prepare me. A mother, after all, is your entry into the world. She is the shell in which you divide and become a life. Waking up in a world without her is like waking up in a world without sky: unimaginable.” ― Meghan O'Rourke, The Long Goodbye: A Memoir
